Snowbird……… No Way!
Today was the first snow for the season in Indianapolis. I am sending this picture to my Realtor friend in Clearwater Florida who would like to have us all head south to buy a condo to escape the cold, I rather like the first snow and I like winter clothes. Really, who wants to wear a bathing suit all year?
Moving south is a guise to cover up the fact they do not know how to drive in the snow, so they head south, at about the same time the birds do.. Thus, the name snow birds. It is a proven fact, you can not fly on the icy roads.
This picture was taken today in front of a home I have for sale in Avon. How could you possibly leave such beauty for one of Clearwaters Sunsets? It’s beyond me!
If you must fly south, call me and I will help you find the very best Realtor to assist you in the city you choose.
Of course, if you are like me and love snow in Indianapolis and are looking for a new home to shovel your way out of, call me.

Paula - we enjoy visiting our northern friends for the snow - but I gotta say love my flip flops in CLearwater Beach
Thanks for the mention - always room in the hammock for any of your friends. - Cyndee Haydon
Paula I admit I love the snow as well. We just don’t have the resources in the desert when we have a huge snowfall. Love seeing your snow photo. - Ashley
Paula- this is such a brilliant post in so many ways
I lived in Dallas and Florida for about 2 years of my many years of life and I did miss the changing seasons. We have four seasons here in Virginia- but our winters aren’t as long as yours and that’s just perfect for me.
I love my winter clothes but I don’t need to wear them for more than 3 months.
How about a negotiated settlement? I watched the snow fly in NW Indiana for four days, 4 inches total, then jumped on Southwest Airlines and sit this morning in Bonita Springs just south of Cyndee’s beaches.
Sure, I’ll head back on Tuesday, but gladly because I to love the seasons and the snow is the best part of the winter. Paula keep the photos coming, Avon is just right, family streets and wonderful parks.
Cyndee - We had another snow here, so I may have to come sit in the hammock awhile.
Ashley - hard to get snow from the desert, although I have seen flurries in Phoenix and even the surrounding mountains with a light dusting.
Mary - Thank You! I agree, a shorter winter would be nice. Like you though, after being away, I am enjoying four seasons and the snow, well, it’s part of the package.
Steve - In our business, negotiated settlements are the ultimate resolution. Enjoy Florida:)
This discussion wouldn’t be complete w/o a Charlotte mention. Charlotte is a city of imports, folks from all over– but Florida has been consistently a top state for relocations out of… these folks are affectionately known as “half-backs” migrating from the NE to the Florida shores, only to realize…”It is really hot in Florida.” and they come “half-way” back and settle in Charlotte, where we have 4 seasons, but our winter is very short. We aren’t in bathing suits, but it will be in the 70’s all week. Great weather for anything outside. I posted about it this morning before seeing this one. Also- I’ll give anyone a $100 who sees Cyndee actually in a hammock.
Jack, you don’t count!
Half-backs? I have never heard that description. When we left California, the moving company we used, told me one of the top destinations for people leaving California was North Carolina. I can see the allure with the reasonably mild weather Charlotte enjoys.
Paula,
I thought someone was talking about football the first time i heard the term “half-back” when referring to those that only make it halfway back to the Northeast from Florida.
I would like to get one or two good snows a year but we haven’t seen a good snow in several years here in North Carolina. It was 79 degrees today!
Wow Rita - I am in Phoenix this week and it is cool, rainy and only 65 degrees. It sounds much nicer in North Carolina.
